More Light Presbyterians: February 2022

We pray this message finds you entering this year with as much hope as you can muster and a renewed energy for our continued movement toward mutual liberation.

The Board of Directors would like to update you on where we are and how you can be supportive as we journey ahead in this new year.  First, we know you are curious about staffing in this time of transition. As a board we know that the next steps toward permanent leadership are imperative to the future of our ministry into this next season.  The Board is intentionally taking  time to discern the ways  our expansive ministry of mutual liberation needs to be fortified and a staffing structure to make such dreams a reality.

Knowing this process will take time, we are thankful to announce that Rev. Larissa Kwong Abazia is stepping up as our Interim Head of Operations. Larissa has been a vital part of the Board as a Co-Moderator and faithful Board Member. Larissa has taken a leave of absence from the More Light Board and as Co-Moderator to provide support during this transitional time. She will work closely with Susan Robertson, our Operations Assistant, to continue the daily work of More Light.  Larissa will also collaborate with the More Light Board of Directors as we lean into this season to celebrate all that has been done and listen to how God is calling us into the future.  Click here for a link to the job description for the Interim Head of Operations.

More Light will continue to support and encourage  individuals and congregations as they practice and live into God’s call to  the Beloved Community.  Current and past Board members will be supporting educational/conference requests in order for the More Light Presbyterian witness to continue.

We invite you to lean into this time with us:

  • Pray for the Board of Directors and the ministry of More Light Presbyterians.
  • Share the ways you have been supported by the ministry of More Light Presbyterians.
  • Celebrate your witness for the LGBTQAI+ community to inform our path forward.

The wider community of More Light has been the foundation of the organization from the very beginning. We are counting on your support as we move into the future. Thank you for being a bold witness to God’s Beloved Community alongside MLP!
