Presbyterian Peace Fellowship - Do you consider yourself a pacifist?

Do you consider yourself a pacifist? This year, World Communion Sunday fell on October 2nd, which is also the day that we in the PC(USA) take our Peace and Global Witness (formerly Peacemaking) Offering. This offering "encourages the church to cast off anxiety and fear, discord and division, and embrace our God's mission of reconciliation to those around the corner and around the world.” As scripture says, “we have been given the ministry of reconciliation,” but how can we do that when there is so much violence and war in the world? Do you consider yourself a pacifist or a non-pacifist? Or perhaps you are someplace on the spectrum between the two. You can learn more about your own answers to that question at this upcoming workshop. Register Today Many of us may have just adopted the cultural norms on violence and war as our own without even realizing it. This workshop is designed to help us explore our own and our faith communities commitments to peace. Why should you consider taking this workshop? Because it will help you to better understand your own position on war and violence; Because it will help you to discern whether your faith community is ready to consider becoming a Peace Church; Because you are ready to take the next step to say, "No to war and violence;" Because you are a young person or you work with young people who may consider a commitment to becoming a conscientious objector, And because we are on a spiritual journey toward reconciliation, love and justice for all God’s people and we must do this together. We will use the Inventory of Conscience Survey, which you will take ahead of time. And it will include journaling and small group discussions. Sharing will  be voluntary and without judgment. Consider this to be an opportunity for discovery with an attitude of open-hearted inquiry for yourself and others. The workshop will be held on November 13th at 1pm PT/4pm ET.
