GreenFaith - The climate crisis threatened my family's life last week.

The climate crisis is coming for all of us - and it’s up to us to take action, together.

As I write to you, my family is still displaced from our home in Florida, US because of the impacts of Hurricane Ian. I don’t know yet when we will be able to return. My community has flooded homes and roads, downed trees, loss of power, and gas shortages.

Still, we were very lucky. Just a few miles from my town, there is complete devastation and lives were lost.

I hope you will hold the hundreds of thousands of families across the Southeastern US and Caribbean in your prayers as we navigate this disaster–and allow your prayers to move you to action.

Let’s be clear: hurricanes are stronger and more frequent because of climate change (source). These storms are a painful reminder of what’s at stake if our world doesn’t swiftly move away from fossil fuels.

The time to act is NOW.

It’s essential for our communities to lift our voices loudly, far and wide–demanding for governments and corporations to end fossil fuel extraction and make a just transition to a safe, clean energy future.

You, Rev., are a crucial part of this grassroots, faith rooted movement. This crisis is going to take all of us doing our part.

Please register or join an action on the Faiths 4 Climate Justice map today.

Whether it’s challenging your local government to invest in clean energy, hosting an educational forum at your place of worship, or joining a protest of fossil fuels with community leaders – every action matters.

Together, we can achieve the world we still believe is possible.

In solidarity and hope,

Rose Gwynn
