Change.org Petition: Make Amazon STOP shipping oversized boxes through USPS

As a small town USPS mail carrier for almost 8 years, Lacy has pretty much seen it all. But the worst part of her job? Constantly carrying oversized packages for Amazon. Even though Amazon pays USPS for last-mile delivery, Lacy doesn’t get any extra money for hauling things like desks, bed frames, or septic tanks from her car to people’s front doors. Sign Lacy’s petition to tell Amazon to stop freeloading off our local postal workers for their heaviest deliveries.

Hey guys, I’m Lacy. I’ve been a clerk for USPS for almost 8 years but I’ve done a little bit of everything in smaller level offices.
If you live in a town where your Amazon is delivered via USPS, your mail carrier is likely struggling and miserable. They’re forced to handle big items like computer desks, mattresses, bicycles, bed frames, huge boxes of all kinds of animal feed and litter, cornhole boards, bar stools, pressure washers, swimming pool pumps, fryers, antennas, the list goes on and on, you get the point. It sucks. Hell, the other week I scanned in a portable septic tank for an RV. Please understand this isn’t something that happens occasionally, it’s a daily occurrence. USPS receives shipments of these boxes 7 days a week. Most rural carriers use their own vehicles to deliver their route. These oversized boxes add so much to the workload and Amazon has been allowed to pile it on postal employees for nearly a decade. Everyone knows Amazon could easily deliver these ridiculous boxes themselves. USPS is being used and we haven’t made a single extra dime for the extra load Amazon has put on everyone.

I’m starting this petition in hopes that it’ll get some signatures and gain the attention of Amazon and most importantly USPS’ upper management. Our employees are suffering and it’s time to speak up about it. Thanks for your time.
