Change.org Petition: Shut down MrDeepfakes and websites dedicated to image-based sexual abuse.

Imagine being sent a link to an intimate image or video of yourself. Perhaps you shared it privately, or had no knowledge it was even taken. Now it’s being sold to strangers on the internet and has millions of views. This is the reality for 1 in 12 Americans each year. Websites like MrDeepfakes are dedicated to the abuse of intimate images and videos. My Image My Choice started this petition to see these perverse websites shut down for good. You can help by adding your name now.

Shut down MrDeepfakes and websites dedicated to image-based sexual abuse.

"I immediately felt sick when I saw the videos… My first thought was, ’This can’t be of me’" - Ellesha

"It may be my body but it is not my shame, I did not agree to the creation of this content" - Victoria

"For too long, this dark and pitiful corner of the internet has been ignored. But not anymore" - Ruby

Our private, intimate images have been shared on porn websites dedicated to intimate image abuse. These websites are thriving off of violating our consent. They need to be shut down.

Image-based sexual abuse websites like MrDeepfakes and Anon IB are thriving:

  • MrDeepfakes is the world’s biggest non-consensual deepfake pornsite. It has hundreds of thousands of members. Its videos gain millions of views. It’s the first thing that comes up when you google ‘deepfake porn.’ On its flourishing forum, perpetrators can learn how to make better fake porn videos.
  • AnonIB is a site where people request and share non-consensual intimate images, listing victims by town, college, school. Its users trade hacked or leaked images of their exes, friends, classmates. People ask for ‘nudes of her little sister,’ ‘more of her,’ alongside demeaning comments.

Sites like these are the infrastructure that allows image-based sexual abuse to grow. 1 in 12 people in the USA are victims each year (APA).

We should all have a right to privacy and agency over images of our bodies. These websites make that impossible. They are set up specifically to violate consent and autonomy.

We’ve been digitally stripped, traded, requested, purchased and shared to millions of viewers. Yet the creators and consumers of this content are becoming a flourishing community, facing no consequences.

We should all have a right to privacy and agency over images of our bodies.

So we ask that:

  • MrDeepfakes is shut down.
  • AnonIB is shut down.
  • Other sites dedicated to non-consensual sharing of intimate images are shut down.
  • Google and other search engines de-index these websites.
  • Internet providers block these websites.

The impacts of this abuse can be devastating and even life-threatening. This change needs to happen now.
