Over 100,000 Afghans are expected to be evacuated to the U.S. over the next 6 months. Almost half of these refugees are already here. Offering a dignified welcome to all requires an interfaith and nationwide response.

Church pastors, mission committee chairs, and other concerned Presbyterians have been calling the national office to find out how they can help. As a founding member communion and an active partner of Church World Service (CWS), we invite you to join an ecumenical gathering on Thursday, September 30th for clergy and judicatory leaders to hear how faith communities can partner with CWS to welcome our Afghan allies and friends.

This call will provide a programmatic update on the CWS Afghan Assistance and Placement Program along with an advocacy update from the CWS Advocacy Team. Speakers will explain how congregations can get involved in welcoming Afghans to their communities. Attendees will leave this session with action items and resources to equip their congregations to engage in welcoming Afghans to their community.

CWS is one of 9 national resettlement organizations. Whether there is a CWS office located near you or not, this webinar can help you understand the basics of Afghan resettlement and how people of faith are responding.  Please contact our office if you need more information.
