We are grateful! πŸ’™

We are grateful!
On September 1st we gathered virtually for the 8th annual Barstow Driver Award Celebration to honor Cheryl and Doug Hunt for Excellence in Nonviolent Direct Action in Retirement.
We had 131 people attend from multiple countries and raised $9,459, making a special contribution to: Not My Generation, a youth-led movement organization focused on gun violence prevention.

Thank you! We are so grateful for your support, for your flexibility in our second year of hosting a virtual event, and for your generosity. As Cheryl said upon receiving the award, "It’s not really about the past, but really a call to carry on. Now we are committed to be even more resilient in peacemaking. This work is not a solitary adventure. We need partners. We are gratified by all of you who are here." We are, indeed, glad to have you all here.

If you'd still like to make a donation it's not too late to help us tip over that $10,000 mark!
Disarm to transform
"Holding space for grief and trauma is why we are asking churches to become disarming congregations.

We want to end gun violence and to do so involves more than just taking guns out of homes.

Churches can be agents of transformation for not just the gun as it is disarmed and turned into a garden tool, but also for people." Read Rev. Deanna Hollas' full reflections about a recent Guns2Gardens event in Houston, TX in response to the NRA marking their 150 year anniversary.

We are calling on congregations to become part of the disarming network! You can move your congregation from passion and study to action by signing up for a 5-week action circle which will offer support and training for your community to host its first disarming event. We are launching two circles to start: one with the goal of hosting an event by end of year and the other with the goal of hosting an event in the first quarter of 2022. They both begin in October.
