In my last email, I shared our values & mission statement with you. I hope you love them like we do.
But words are not enough to solve the climate crisis.
That’s why we’re asking for your support.
Our team is more convinced than ever that the time is now to build a movement that brings together grassroots people of diverse religions to protect the planet. Without this kind of movement, we don’t have a prayer of creating a positive future.
Two steps are required to make this movement happen.
First, grassroots people from diverse religions - you - must share a powerful vision.
Then, together we must take action - in large numbers - building a future that reflects our moral values.
That’s exactly what you - our global community - is doing.
Over the past year, grassroots people from diverse religions around the world have developed a vision in the form of ten climate justice demands. I want to share the first five with you.
- 100% renewable energy for all people.
Global finance aligned with compassionate values.
Jobs and healthcare for all.
Respect Indigenous rights.
Welcome for migrants.
Yes - these are bold. They are also what science and our religions tell us is needed. In my next email, I’ll share the second five demands.
This work isn’t limited to a vision. On March 11, people of diverse religions around the world are organizing a global, multi-faith day of climate action - Sacred People, Sacred Earth. It’s a first step in building a large, long-term movement. Hundreds of people of diverse backgrounds and religions have already come together to start planning. Stay tuned for your invitation to the next planning call in January.
Together, we are building a sustainable future. Join us now by giving here.In faith and solidarity,
Rev. Fletcher Harper, Executive Director
