SojoAction - Help protect democracy. Be a poll chaplain.

SojoAction

Our vote and democracy are under attack in every state across this union. But on November 8th, we as a people of faith must be on the frontline to fight this Goliath that is trying to destroy our democracy. We cannot sit out the Midterm election.

The late John Lewis said best: "A vote is the most powerful non-violent tool we have – almost sacred.” For us, voting is rooted in the belief that everyone is created in the image of God and deserves to vote their values in free, fair, and safe elections.

We are recruiting, training, and mobilizing 2000 poll chaplains in ten priority states of AL, AZ, FL, GA, MI, NC, OH, PA, TX, and WI to serve as a moral presence and support at the polls for vulnerable voters. We are seeking ordained clergy and senior faith leaders to serve as poll chaplains. Our united front at the polls will allow voters to see that people of faith, Pastors, Rabbis, Imams, and lay persons, will watch, pray, and protect our sacred right to vote.

We invite you to help us recruit, mobilize, and deploy your local faith network to serve as poll chaplains in the ten priority states. If you are not a clergy member, please share this with your clergy or senior faith leader. Our training is scheduled for Tuesdays, October 4, 11, 18, and 25 from 4:00 - 5:00 PM (EST) via Zoom.

If you are in the ten priority states and want to sign up or recruit others to sign up for Poll Chaplain training, visit turnoutsunday.com, and please indicate the desired training dates.

Democracy belongs to the people and must be protected.

In faith,
