Dear East Bay Regional Park District Officials, Please stop the government-sanctioned killing of cats in your area. The shooting & hunting of community cats is abhorrent, has no place in a civilized society & is, therefore, an inappropriate use of your constituents’ tax money. Furthermore, it is ineffective, as other cats will move into the territory formerly occupied by the cats you have allowed to be killed. The most effective method of controlling community cat populations is TNR--Trap/Neuter/Release. Studies have shown this to be extremely effective in humanely reducing stray cat populations. Finally, it is important for your own image to stop this cruel killing of unowned cats in your community. You are on the wrong side of history, the arc of which is toward progress in its treatment of both humans & the animals with whom we share this planet. You do not want to appear barbaric. Moreover, you do not want to BE barbaric, so please stop this practice & educate yourselves on the superior method of cat population control, TNR. Sincerely, Taunja Thomson | |||||||||||||||
