Greenwood is in danger of losing The Greenwood Genetic Center. MUSC a Charleston Hospital is attempting to take over the Greenwood Genetic Center (GGC). If the proposed agreement is approved by the GGC Board of Directors, GGC will no longer exist in its current state. MUSC will have 50% of the board members of the new entity. With MUSC acquiring 50% of the operational structure, there will be no obligation to keep job positions in Greenwood of which currently there are over 150 well paid jobs. The founders of the GGC, Roger Stevenson and Hal Taylor strongly oppose the takeover of GGC by MUSC, as do many employees. GGC is the only independent Center of Excellence in Genetics in the entire world. Currently right here from Greenwood, GGC collaborates with universities, hospitals and corporations throughout South Carolina, the entire United States, as well as internationally. It is Greenwood’s gem! We need the community of Greenwood to raise its opposition to the GGC Board of Directors as the vote is rapidly approaching. The voting board consists of 10 members, 6 of which do not live or work in Greenwood. Please show your support of the Greenwood Genetic Center by signing the below petition to be presented to the voting board members. Thank you for your support. | ||
