PPL Enews: Jesus Doesn't Triage,Divine Love, Stories of hope & more

Jesus Doesn't Triage

A Call to Prayer by Deborah Hollifield, PPL Executive Director

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

Seemingly overnight, “normal life” has been redefined throughout the world by the Covid-19 pandemic. Things we took for granted – like handshakes, hugs and toilet paper – have disappeared, leaving even the most resilient adrift and disoriented. Things we never feared before have come to stay for awhile. Adding to the general unease are troubling conversations among ethicists, medical providers and social media pundits about which people are more vulnerable than others . . .
Divine Love

Louisiana author and father Chad Judice recalls a November meeting with a family named Fortier, whose testimony powerfully impacted his own household. At the time, Ashley and Chad Judice were expecting a son whose prenatal medical diagnosis showed hydrocephalus. They had received the doctors’ testing results earlier that fall, experiencing all the anguish and sadness that could be expected. The young couple had cried and hugged, studied the medical reports and absorbed the foreboding statistics. Spina bifida was a likely outcome. Ashley’s own professional experience in the medical field routinely immersed her in the pain of worst-case scenarios. Hope was in short supply.

Our Family's Niemann-Pick Type C (NPC) Journey
A PPL blog by Cindy Kay Zimmerman

We will always cherish the 6,070 days that we had with our only son, Patrick, before God called him home. Our family’s NPC journey began when I received a phone call stating that Patrick’s amniocentesis showed something unusual. Our doctor did not know what it was. I hung up the phone and sagged against the cold, cinderblock wall that afternoon, taking in the enormity of what that might mean for our future. My husband and I were not walking closely with the Lord. Our marriage was not strong at all. But ending the pregnancy was not an option we considered, despite not knowing what the future held for us.

Bethany Christian Services Foster Care
National Foster Care Month
Because of the COVID-19 crisis, vulnerable children and families are experiencing even more stress and uncertainty. We anticipate that these challenging times will lead to more children and teens being in foster care or staying in foster care. If you've ever considered foster care before, now is the time.
