Hunter A different kind of General Assembly …What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? -- Micah 6:8b-d The 224th General Assembly (2020) of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) convenes on Saturday, June 20 and concludes on Saturday, June 27. Our General Assembly (G.A.) is both exhilarating and challenging, filled with concerns from across the church and filled with blessed servant leaders and Spirit-filled moments. It commemorates June 19, 1865. That's the day that Union Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger rode into Galveston, Texas, and told slaves of their emancipation from slavery. Thursdays in Black – this global movement of the World Council of Churches, encourages us to wear black on Thursdays in resistance to rape and gender-based violence. Black is used as a color of resistance and resilience.
