We are 20 days away from the US election. That calendar update is a daunting reminder that we all have work to do. Whether the task is educating ourselves on how to be an informed compassionate voter, observing the polls & your community to ensure its free of voter suppression, or engaging in conversations with friends and members of your faith communities, we all can play a part. We need to make sure this election has faith fueled compassion and that voter suppression tactics, and the injustice they perpetuate, will be challenged.
We have a few important updates and resources for you:
Office Hours: Starting this week, GreenFaith will offer Office Hours. These office hours are an opportunity to engage with other leaders and get any questions answered about the Compassionate Voter Campaign.
1 on 1 Training: This Friday & next Friday we will offer a 1 on 1 training that will cover how to tell your own personal story about voting compassionately, and allow you to connect with others in our diverse network. We had this training last week and got feedback that it was an excellent resource for Voter Captains and all who are engaging in relational conversations. (Those that joined us really enjoyed it.)
Fill out this form to get your GreenFaith hat and other swag! If you are a Voter Captain, or a Moral Observer, you’ll need to share your address with us so we can send you a hat, stickers, and facemask (our GreenFaith swag bag). In order to receive your GreenFaith swag before the election, fill out the following form by the end of the day on Thursday October 15th!
Keep doing the good work and recruit your friends! If you’re a Moral Observer continue doing work by observing the polls, posting on social media, or presenting in your community to educate your community. Engage your other faith leaders and your communities of faith to vote compassionately in this election. If you know someone that would be a good Moral Observer, share this link http://bit.ly/GFMoralObserver. We are also partnering with Election Defenders to offer de-escalation trainings and more day of support for moral observers who will be on the ground. Get in touch with one of us to find out more about that.
We encourage all Voter Captains to continue to have conversations and encourage others to sign the Compassionate Vote Pledge. If you know someone that would be a good Voter Captain, share this link http://bit.ly/GFVoterCaptain
This work is critical and it is important that we faithfully and compassionately stay engaged. Looking forward to seeing you on a call or training soon.
Best Regards,
Louis Romain, GreenFaith Organizer
