On Easter Sunday, members of Mission & Service partner advocacy groups based in the Philippines protested violent arrests and expressed concern that Filipino President Rodrigo Duterte is weaponizing laws to crush democratic dissent. With many of us participating in virtual meeting for the first time, or with growing frequency, now might be a good time to ensure we are being more thoughtful about how we engage to ensure we are contributing to the creation of more inclusive and safe spaces. As introductions are often an important part of online meetings, consider reviewing the Facts about Pronouns guide, located under 'Downloads' on the United Church's Gender, Sexuality, and Orientation webpage. It offers facts and information about pronouns and pronoun introductions.

For more information about fully celebrating God’s diversity through understanding gender identity, take a look at the United Church's Toolkit on Gender Identity and Trans Experiences for Communities of Faith, 2019 edition.
