COVID-19 Update: Our Commitment to Animals Remain

With the recent developments around the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), American Humane is implementing precautions to help keep our staff healthy while ensuring they can continue to be the first to serve animals in need.

Our rescue team is actively monitoring the situation and is ready to assist communities in need. Our military team continues to train service dogs to assist veterans struggling with Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and providing them to veterans at absolutely no cost to them.

During this troubling time, we want to assure you that American Humane remains committed to helping ensure the safety, welfare and well-being of animals. Your donations enable us to continue this critical, lifesaving mission.

Recognizing the ongoing and increased uncertainty that COVID-19 is causing around the world, we want to stress that at this time there is no evidence that pets can spread COVID-19. To date, the CDC has not received any reports of pets or other animals becoming sick with COVID-19. As concerns continue to mount, we hope to reassure you that your pet is not a threat. Your pet needs your protection and love during any disaster. Be sure to include your pet in your disaster preparedness plans and have a two-week supply of food, water and medications on hand for each animal.

As always, we suggest you continue best safety practices by washing your hands with soap and water after contact with all animals – four legged or not.
