GreenFaith - Are you inspired by these people?

Every crisis is solved only when ordinary people step forward and do extraordinary things.

That is what GreenFaith is all about and what your gift supports.

Read these reflections from some of our grassroots leaders:

It never occurred to me to protest injustice, but in my seventh decade, a service at my church made me ask, ‘If not now, when?’ I will never know how effective the effort to reduce greenhouse gasses will be. But my two grandchildren, two nephews, and niece will know.
The protest I joined was low-risk and high in preparation. It was still a protest, however, and the police came to “protect” BlackRock from disruption and to take us to jail.
I sat in the cell alone for three hours. This experience brought me a holy gift of empathy for those who sacrifice much more in this way, for those who suffer the effects of climate change, and for those who labor to stop it.”

“For me, the climate crisis is a moral issue, spiritual issue, and an ecological issue. It is also a matter of survival, because in my community, we depend on the Earth. We are climate sensitive: our survival mostly depends on rain-fed agriculture.
So if we are going to destroy our environment, if we're going to keep on investing in fossil fuels, this means that we are going to amplify the climate crisis and by doing so, this means that we are going to destroy our home.
Working with GreenFaith to stop the East African Crude Oil Pipeline, I can see that our work has helped. Before, in Tanzania, most of the people didn't even know about the project because the government used to hide this information. Working with GreenFaith, it is helping us to… speak out about this project.”
Baraka L., Tanzania

“I was excited to support a different take on protest with GreenFaith at Bank of America HQ in Charlotte throughout October. Our goal was to create a new coalition of faith leaders, parishioners, local eco groups, and passersby.
Our actions of singing & preaching confirmed a shared sense of urgency. Everyone understood that we must now hold Bank of America accountable for their continued unconscionable investing in the climate crisis, and that big banks should contribute to regenerating our ecosystems that are in crisis.
These GreenFaith Charlotte actions brought me to a deeper place of hope and faithfulness to hold these banks to account.”

I can share dozens more stories that I’ve heard and witnessed. Each of our thousands of GreenFaith Circle members has their own story to tell.

What do they all have in common? Each of them were concerned about our Earth and climate change.

Through their collaboration with GreenFaith, they gained the knowledge and skills to put their beliefs into action. Now they know they’re making a difference.

Rev., will you help us reach more people of faith? With your help, we can grow a movement of ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

Thanks for being extraordinary!
