Change.org Petition: Stop the Injustice Death Sentencing to the Students in Myanmar

Change.org

Seven students, all under 25, have been sentenced to death in Myanmar and are scheduled for execution imminently, as early as today.

Relatives of the students — who were sentenced to death by a closed court in the military-ruled country — are calling for global support to stop the executions.

Myanmar’s illegitimate junta on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, in a closed trials by a military tribunal, unjustly handed down death sentences to seven Dagon University students Ko Khant Zin Win, Ko Thura Maung Maung, Ko Zaw Lin Naing, Ko Thiha Htet Zaw, Ko Hein Htet, Ko Thet Paing Oo and Ko Khant Linn Maung Maung who took part in anti-regime protests.

The death sentence executions by hanging are to be held on December 7, 2022. The seven were arrested in April 2022 for alleged involvement in the shooting of Global Treasure Bank branch manager, a former military officer.

Recently as of July 25, 2022, the ruthless junta executed four democracy activists:  Ko Jimmy, Ko Phyo Zeya Thaw, Ko Hla Myo Aung and Ko Aung Thura Zaw.

It is very deeply disheartening and concerning for the seven students as well as many more innocent victims to come in the future for injustice death sentencing.

The ruthless junta, which has killed more than 2,500 people or more since the February 2021 coup, has been using the death penalty as intimidation tactics to opponents as it struggles to take control the country.

We appeal and seek support from the International organizations and communities to reverse the injustice sentencing and stop the ongoing extrajudicial killings in Myanmar immediately.

May we all live in Peace, Harmony and Happiness.
