More Light Presbyterians - Join us in advocating for LGBTQAI+ youth

The board and staff of More Light Presbyterians stand with LGBTQIA+ youth and their families in the face of sustained and cruel attacks from legislatures around the United States. We believe that transgender teens should have the right to bodily autonomy, LGBTQIA+ kids deserve the opportunity to hear the history of their communities in schools, and doctors, teachers, and parents must be able to exercise their professional and personal judgement to do what is best for the young people in their care. As people of faith, we have an opportunity and responsibility to speak against the political and social agendas driving these measures.

Join More Light Presbyterians and the Office of Gender & Racial Justice for a time of education, action, and community care on Saturday, April 30 from 12-2 pm EST. People working on the ground in activism, health care, and ministry will share ways to fight for trans and queer youth followed by an optional time of pastoral care and connection for people of all ages in the LGBTQIA+ community. Visit the Facebook event page for more information.

Engage in an hybrid learning opportunity hosted at Bethesda Presbyterian Church on Saturday, May 14 from 9:30 am- 4 pm EST, "Beyond Pink and Blue: Trans+Family Spiritual Care." Leadership for the conference will include:

  • Rev. Dr. Erin Swenson, a Presbyterian minister and marriage and family counselor specializing in care for transgender persons and their families.
  • Sybastian Smith, the Director of Organizing at the National Center for Transgender Equality in Washington, DC.

Visit the Facebook event page for more information.
