How can the church support the caregivers of those with mental illness?

Join Presbyterian Outlook on April 26 at 7 p.m. EST for a 60-minute webinar, including a presentation and Q&A, with the author of Dutiful Love: Empowering Individuals and Families Affected by Serious Mental Illness, Elizabeth Hinson-Hasty.

Register — $10 for individuals, $20 for groups

The burden of caregiving for people with serious mental illness in the U.S. is placed upon the family members, and it is an immense responsibility. Many factors go into the struggle of providing good care in this situation including different levels of support for physical vs. mental health care, the stigma associated with mental impairments, and the lack of social safety nets, etc.

In this webinar, Hinson-Hasty, a professor and pastor, will:

  • share interviews she conducted with sibling caregivers for people with serious mental illness
  • discuss the context of care in the U.S.
  • identify significant ways churches can alleviate the family burden and advocate for systemic and structural change.

An on-demand replay will be available after the live event for those who register. Click here to learn more.
