Change.org - Dangerous intersection

Last Sunday, a car accident killed a 15-year-old girl – one of several deaths that have occurred at this intersection. Melanie started her petition when a prominent member of her community died there. That was two years ago. She’ll keep fighting until a traffic light has been installed to prevent more tragic accidents.

Install Traffic Light at Peninsula Blvd and Edward Ave

13,698 have signed Melanie Kail’s petition. Let’s get to 15,000!

As there have been countless motor vehicle accidents and pedestrians struck in and around this intersection it has become abundantly clear that we need to do something to help ensure the safety of our community, friends and neighbors. Over the last 10 years it is clear that a traffic signal is the only way to ensure safety at this dangerous intersection. Just this morning, we lost a prominent and invaluable member of our community who was on his way to Synagogue for morning prayers. Just a few months ago, while walking to the very same Synagogue this very same man had a brief conversation with his friend where they discussed how someone would have to die here before the county did anything to ensure safe travel via this intersection. How his words shall now ring true! It is imperative that we join together to assist when people attempt to cross what has become a dangerous and hazardous intersection for ourselves and our community both young and old. Please sign this petition to make our busy streets safer for all of us!
