WCC NEWS: Middle East Council of Churches: Working together for a more effective and sustainable collaboration

The Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) General Secretariat held its annual meeting on 14 April with international and regional partner organizations and institutions online to discuss opinions and share knowledge about developing the role of the council and improve cooperation in future projects.

MECC Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs presented the sociopolitical, economic and demographic aspects the region are facing in the midst of the pandemic.

Sixty-seven leaders and representatives from 34 international and national organizations across the world attended the video conference.

Topics included the region’s political, economic and demographic situation; the Middle East Council of Churches’ activities in Lebanon, Palestine and Syria during the year 2020; and strategic framework for the future vision.

Participants also discussed the future perspectives for working together as well as a financial report.
