The fishing industry contributes to far more unnecessary deaths of whales, dolphins, turtles, and seals than plastic waste alone. Due to overfishing, fishing gear waste, and bycatch (catching these sea animals in their nets) they are cruelly ending the lives of these creatures and depleting the eco systems which maintain a healthy ocean, climate, and planet for humans, animals, and all living things to survive. There is not enough regulation and enforcement to protect the ocean life. There is no guarantee to consumers, that the seafood they purchase was responsibly sourced. We need regulations in place and enforcement of responsible fishing. We also need to reduce or stop seafood consumption to allow fish to re-populate and support a sustainable ocean ecosystem. | ||
