Processing Delays at Permanent Program National Processing Center, Atlanta, GA are having detrimental effects on the legal immigrant community. We understand the gravity of the pandemic and how it has created unsafe working conditions and reduced processing capacities everywhere including at the DOL. Historically DOL has processed the Permanent Labor Certification applications in 1-3 months but with Covid-19 pandemic related office closure during mid 2020, the processing time has jumped to more than 6 months. As a result, many legal immigrants are reaching max-out status of their visa. Legal immigrants routinely plan or delay life decisions around DOL action. But with situations like visa- max-out and pending Perm approvals, many legal immigrants are forced to leave the country and travel back to their respective home countries. This is a risk to the entire family of such immigrants as many of them have to travel with small kids. In some cases, immigrants also face loss of job if their employers do not have operations in home countries of such immigrants. Risk of life and losing the source of income in times of pandemic is huge impact on many families. We respectfully implore you to act under emergency powers to take Executive Action to provide temporary relief for the following: | ||
