AME Church Supports the American Jobs Plan

Around the globe, and across the United States of America, the call for unity and the need for equity is reverberating with mixed outcomes.   The determination of the African Methodist Episcopal Church is to remain steadfast in our commitment to achieving unity and equity on behalf of the forgotten, disenfranchised, and neglected communities and their residents.  It is for those reasons that we are supportive of the American Rescue Plan which is changing the course of the pandemic and delivering relief for working families. Recognizing that it is not timely nor advisable to “build back to the way things were” shows courage at a time that authentic and credible leadership is required.  This is the moment to reimagine and rebuild a new economy. The American Jobs Plan is an investment in America that will create millions of good jobs, rebuild our country’s infrastructure, and position the United States to compete on the global stage.

The American Jobs Plan is an excellent starting point for envisioning a better tomorrow.  Its focus on jobs plus careers, excellence in public transportation, sustainable solutions to climate change and environmental justice, roadways/waterways maintenance, and other public investments gives us hope for future generations and re-captured dreams of those who are now unemployed and under-employed.  With the support of the leadership in this country along with stakeholders from all walks of life, the vision will become our reality – “United for A Better America” which leads to a humane and better world.
