Julius Jones deserves to live - Tell Governor Stitt to spare his life

Julius Jones, an innocent Black man, has been on death row for over 20 years and is being held in solitary confinement for a crime he did not commit.

On Monday, November 1, 2021, the Oklahoma pardon and parole board recommended 3-1 that Julius' sentence should be commuted and that he should not be put to death. Despite this recommendation, the execution date remains in place and in 9 days Julius will be killed, unless Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt acts.

We need you to take action NOW.

Take Action

This is the first time in Oklahoma’s history that the board has made such a recommendation, underscoring the deep concerns about this case, which speak to the broader concerns about the brokenness in our justice system.

“The Attorney General’s office has no good answer to the evidence of Julius Jones’s innocence. They simply ignore things they cannot explain,” argued Amanda Bass, Julius’ public defender at his most recent hearing. There are compelling reasons to doubt that the system worked to produce a just or a fair result in this case.

Due to the delay in action from Governor Stitt, right now Julius is on “death watch” -- alone and monitored 24-7 in a cell without any possessions. Julius and his family cannot be put through any more pain and suffering. This is truly the last chance to save Julius' life.

Governor Stitt is a person of faith and as people of faith we need to call on him to save Julius’ life and obtain his freedom. Contact Governor Stitt TODAY and ask him to grant Julius clemency and freedom.

Take Action

In faith and solidarity,

Rev. Terrance M. McKinley
