On October 22nd 2021, my family took a return plane flight across the US on Delta Airlines. Sitting next to my children (ages 9 and 11), I decided to listen to the Audio playlists on the “In-flight” entertainment systems located in each seat back. I was utterly appalled at the playlist “Today’s Top Hits Mixtape,” which was curated by Spotify for Delta Airlines. The playlist (which did NOT have a “Parental Advisory” label), included unedited songs rife with racist language, derogatory words for women, and violent lyrics. At least three of the 18 songs had extensive descriptions of sex acts. Nearly every song in this playlist (see below) contained deeply offensive words and material. These “In-Flight” entertainment options are available, without restriction, to all ages. This petition is a request for Delta Airlines to 1) remove these offensive audio files, 2) select entertainment appropriate to a public audience of all ages (including children).
1) “Good 4u” (repeated crass words including F####) 2) “Peaches” (repeated crude word for women B####, drug use) 5) “Beautiful mistakes” (song describes adulteress affair) 6) “Positions” (entire song is about sexual acts) 8) “What you know bout love” (references to Sexting, and then descriptions of sex acts) 10) “Rockstar” (repeated use of racist N####, description of handgun, black on black violence and murder) 11) “34+35” (F### word repeatedly, with detailed discussion of sex acts) 16) “WAP” (entire song is references to female genitalia) 17) “Laugh now cry later” (Repeat use of racist N###) | ||
