Congress must pass a pro-family budget bill!

The House of Representatives is on the verge of voting on the Build Back Better (BBB) Act, major pro-family, anti-poverty legislation. Ask your representative to vote yes on this critical bill!

If passed, this bill would decrease our daily costs-of-living by providing supports for working and lower-income America such as tax credits to help raise our children. Reduce health care costs by expanding Medicaid and Medicare benefits, and increase supports and availability of affordable, high-quality housing. Help deliver on the promise of permanent protections for millions of undocumented immigrant people who call the U.S. home and put an end to the fear of deportations and family separations. Make major strides towards addressing climate change ensuring the future for millions more.

This legislation is our chance to help Americans across the country, regardless of who they voted for, what they look like, where they live, or where they were born. From housing to health care to child care to caring for our Earth to permanent protections for our immigrant community, we believe this bill has the potential to bring good news to the people and communities across rural, urban, and suburban America.

Despite all the good news this bill would bring, Congress still needs to hear you urging them to vote yes and pass the Build Back Better Act!

The Build Back Better (BBB) Act will help to create a society that follows one of the most sacred Christian commandments—to love thy neighbor as thyself. By showing care to those most in need, Congress has the opportunity to serve as a Good Samaritan to you, your family, and your community. Major pieces in the legislation include:

  • Investments in early childhood education and development through by expanding access to Universal Pre-K for all 3- and 4-year-olds and creating more affordable child care;
  • Increased funding and access for home- and community-based services to help improve the quality of life for millions of aging and older adults, adults and children with disabilities, and caregivers;
  • Expansion of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Child Tax Credit (CTC), with the included permanent refundability status for low-income families, serves as a historic middle- and lower-class tax cut that will enable people to cover basic household expenses and continue to lift millions of children out of the quicksand of poverty;
  • Millions of people will finally have access to health insurance because of provisions closing the Medicaid coverage gap and expanded access to benefits in Medicare;
  • Lasting protections for millions of undocumented immigrant people by establishing either a legalization program that includes work permits and protection from deportations or a pathway to citizenship;
  • Addressing the climate crisis through included investments in clean energy;
  • Investments in housing affordability and cost reduction.

These provisions are just a fraction of the good news that this bill could bring—but only if it gets passed.

Now is the time to move this country towards being a more perfect union by making long overdue investments that will address problems that have plagued the United States for generations. Many of these problems are being exacerbated by our current COVID-19 crisis and we know that families and communities in our rural, urban, and suburban areas cannot continue to wait for us to act. Congress has the chance to honor our personhood and our inherent dignity and worth as creatures made in the imago Dei—image of God—worthy of care and respect.
