Your moral power will help stop new fossil fuel projects.

GreenFaith Logo

Recently, we surveyed you about your priorities for the GreenFaith community.

The results were clear. Taking action against new fossil fuel infrastructure was at the top of your list.

Join our Wednesday, May 19 call at 12 noon or 7 pm ET to learn how we can take action together to oppose Line 3 - a massive oil pipeline project in Minnesota.

You’ll learn from two remarkable leaders:

  • Tara Houska, Indigenous leader, Tribal rights attorney, and founder of the Giniw Collective, is one of the leaders of efforts to stop Line 3.

  • Bill McKibben is one of the world’s leading climate writers and activists who has been active in numerous campaigns to stop new fossil fuel projects.

You’ll also learn from GreenFaith's Meryne Warah and Nana Firman about religiously-based opposition to fossil fuel projects in Kenya and Indonesia.

Then, you'll connect with each other in small groups and, together, plan for action based on our moral values. Join us next Wednesday.

Why Line 3? Science has been telling us for decades that we need to rapidly decrease fossil fuel use. Line 3 is a proposed pipeline expansion that would bring a million barrels a day of some of the world’s dirtiest crude oil from Canada into the US while violating the Indigenous treaty rights of the Anishinaabe people. Our religious traditions all tell us that this is wrong! We should be protecting our sacred earth, water, air and communities - not destroying them.

What is GreenFaith doing? With allies across the country, GreenFaith will be organizing a delegation to go to a June 5-8 series of actions in Minnesota, where Line 3 would discharge its oil. We'll call on President Biden to revoke the project permits - something he has the authority to do.

The time to act is now.

On May 19, let’s come together and learn how to get involved.

In the coming year, the GreenFaith community will be unleashing multi-faith power to reject a raft of proposed fossil fuel projects. From Line 3 to the East Africa Pipeline in Uganda and Tanzania and more, our grassroots, multi-faith community is gearing up to put our beliefs into action.

Compassion, love, and justice must guide our work. Without question, that means no more fossil fuel infrastructure. Help make it so.

In faith and solidarity,

Rev. Fletcher and the GreenFaith Team

P.S. Register now for next Wednesday’s call with Tara Houska and Bill McKibben. Together, we can make a real impact.
