Change.org - National parks

During the Trump administration, lodging prices in popular national parks nearly tripled – pricing out working families and retirees. Ann wants the new Secretary of the Interior to roll back the rates and make these taxpayer-funded parks affordable again. "Everyone should be able to afford an overnight stay in our National Parks," Ann says. Add your name if you agree with Ann.

The Trump administration allowed certain concessionaires to nearly triple the cost of room rentals in some of our National Parks most loved hotels, and that’s not right.

We’re asking you, Interior Secretary Deb Haaland, please,
rescind the Trump era deregulation of the concessionaires and specifically, to return the pricing schedule for room rentals in our National Parks to pre Trump era levels.

In 2016 an East Wing room with a view of the Upper Geyser Basin, at Old Faithful Inn, cost $268 pr night.
In 2021 that same room, cost about $700, depends on the day, prices vary with "what the market will bear". And that’s not right.

In 2016 a premium room west wing, marginal view, $254
In 2021 that same room costs about $600
And again it depends on the day, That’s price gouging.

The point is the parks belong to all of us. Not some wealthy few.

We believe everyone deserves to come enjoy our parks. Young, old, rich or poor, everyone should be able to afford an overnight stay in our National Parks. Secretary of the Interior
Haaland, help us. We want everyone to be able to go to their favorite park and enjoy a night out. Put your name next to ours and lets make it happen.

================================================

We all know throughout the 45 administration he made efforts to privatize the National Parks, 45 tried to raise gate fees, and sell off elements to greedy developers.

He failed.

There was damage tho, Republican efforts to raise prices and reduce services did succeed in one thing. Nearly tripling room costs in some of our most iconic parks.

We need as many signatures as we can get in order to repair that damage. Everyone should be able to afford our National Parks.
