Online event ‘Ecumenical efforts for peace on the Korean War’s 70th Anniversary’ will take place at 13.00 CEST on Monday, 22 June 2020. During the livestreamed event a Joint Ecumenical Peace Message for the 70th anniversary of the start of the Korean War will be presented.

The public event will present the Joint Ecumenical Peace Message, co-sponsored by churches and council of churches around the world, especially from countries that participated in the Korean War, and seek to promote the wider dissemination and utilization of the message in church circles and beyond.

The event will support the 2020 Global Prayer Campaign for the Korean Peninsula to promote ecumenical cooperation in advocating for a permanent peace regime in Korea.

As this year marks the 70th anniversary of the start of the Korean War, the World Council of Churches (WCC) together with the National Council of Churches in Korea (NCCK) launched the Global Prayer Campaign: “We Pray, Peace Now, End the War.” We invite all Churches and Christians to join in prayer for the formal end to the Korean War and the replacement of the 1953 Armistice Agreement with a peace treaty.
