Change.org - Take action now

Content warning: Violence against trans people.
You are one of millions of people who’ve taken action on Change.org to push for racial justice. You’ve taken a major step by supporting petitions, and many of you want to keep the momentum going. Keep reading for actions that you can take right now to do just that.
This week many within the movement are mourning the deaths of two Black trans women, murdered within a day of each other. Riah Milton was killed during a robbery in Liberty Township, Ohio and Dominique Fells was found dismembered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
So far this year, at least 15 trans and gender non-conforming people have been killed – that we  know of — and Black trans women make up the majority of those killed. Already 101,000 people have signed a Change.org petition demanding justice for Dominique Fells. Violence against Black trans women is “a pandemic” says petition starter Eva.
The Trans Justice Funding Project provides financial support to grassroots organizations run by and for the trans community. They support a diverse group of multi-racial trans activists, and every penny they raise goes to their grantees. Today we’re encouraging you to invest in their work so that people like Riah and Dominique can be safe and thrive.

Rodney Reed was set to be executed for a crime he did not commit until a national outcry from hundreds of thousands of people supporting Tiffany McMillan’s petition got the Texas Criminal Court of Appeals to block his execution. But unless enough people take further action, an innocent man will live out the rest of his life in prison. Add your name to Tiffany’s petition to help demand justice for this innocent man.

Every movement needs allies — people who aren’t directly impacted, but want to help. Part of fighting racism and being a good ally means learning what NOT to do. On Facebook, Holiday Philips offers five excellent examples of actions that are not allyship and what to do instead. Click here to read and share with your community.
