The last several weeks have been a whirlwind. Across the world, we are still experiencing the devastating health and economic impacts of COVID-19, while we simultaneously fight for economic, racial, and climate justice. As a community, we know that we do not want to go back to the old “normal.”
Instead, we want to create a new world of love, justice, and compassion that is sustainable and gives everyone the resources they need to live and thrive.
Last weekend, many in the GreenFaith community in the US supported Juneteenth events led by the Movement for Black Lives and the Poor People’s Campaign. We want to continue to stress that we cannot have climate and environmental justice without racial justice. As we move through these challenging weeks, we're showing that when we come together in communities of care and resilience, we can create a world where love, justice, and compassion are the unbreakable bonds that hold us together.
This Thursday, we invite you to join us on our regular Faith Community Call for Care and Resilience where we will be discussing this vision for the future.
We are delighted to have Phillippa Rowland join us to lead the spiritual moment. Phillippa is a “community scientist” with degrees in Agriculture and Natural Resource Management, as well as the President of the Multifaith Association of South Australia. While recognizing the devastation and tragedy that the pandemic has inflicted, Phillippa will be reflecting on how this moment has shown us the potential of what we can make happen with compassion and kindness.
Please join us for the call that is most convenient for you. You can find your local time here.
These calls give us a chance for spiritual renewal and an opportunity to recommit every week to being a force for love, justice, and compassion. We hope you can join us on Thursday.
In faith,
Rev. Fletcher Harper
