Many Presbyterians were also engaged in protests because of the murder of George Floyd --writing elected officials and other actions to call our nation to end the legacy of systemic racism and police brutality. June 18-27 A Virtual Week of Learning, Prayer & Action With the PCUSA General Assembly meeting online for a small amount of business, join the Presbyterian Peace Fellowship June 18-27 for a virtual week of devotionals, teach-ins, vigils and actions, including new educational resources and action ideas on gun violence prevention. Each day of Peace Camp begins with an emailed devotional from diverse voices and includes the always rousing Peace Breakfast on June 24 (see below). Newsletter Blurb HERE to share the invitation in your church or presbytery Voting to Prevent Gun Violence in 2020 Unlike individuals, churches cannot support or oppose political candidates. However, churches can do a great deal to encourage voting and to focus elections around moral issues such as gun violence prevention. Over the next months we will offer suggestions on voter registration, voter education and actions to protect against voter suppression that churches can participate in and support. Everytown, the nation's largest gun violence prevention group, has organized a community of faith partners to raise the issue of gun violence in the election, including steps that churches can take and steps that individuals can take. PPF's Rev. Deanna Hollas is a member of the faith initiative team. These partners will host at least 50 events to educate and mobilize voters in 13 states where gun violence prevention is a key factor in the election. Those states are: AZ, CO, FL, GA, IA, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, PA, TX, and WI.
