The world needs a compassionate, just response to COVID-19 and climate change. People of faith need to lead the way. Save the date for a global, interfaith day of action on 18 November. And, join a call to engage the COVID-climate nexus in your region, and to start working together towards a powerful global action day.
We’ll share connections for calls in Africa, Asia, North America, Europe and other regions soon. As we consider the state of the world today, our hearts overflow with concern. We are frightened and frustrated by the damage that COVID-19 is inflicting on our communities. The pandemic has revealed cruel injustices. The vulnerable suffer the most severe impacts. We have seen this injustice before. These same communities are disproportionately impacted by the accelerating climate emergency. That’s why interfaith partners around the world are organizing an 18 November global day of action - Sacred People, Sacred Earth - Sounding the Alarm to kick off a new global, movement-building, multi-faith network - GreenFaith International. The global pandemic has thrown claimed the lives of a million people and sickened over 30 million worldwide. Countless people have lost their livelihoods. At the same time, climate-induced wildfires, severe storms, torrential rains, floods and crippling droughts are afflicting hundreds of millions of people around the world. We’re concerned, frightened, frustrated, and fed up. Our diverse faiths compel us to respond. We’re coming together as a global, multi-faith community to build power and to make a difference. We hope you’ll join us. Please save the date for the 18 November day of action - we’ll share more information soon. And join us on our regional calls! In faith, Rev. Fletcher Harper, Executive Director |
