Jinishian Memorial Program brings relief to a city in crisis

In Beirut, Lebanon, it seemed like things could not get worse. Massive inflation made basic needs unaffordable for families. Because staying home from work is not an option for everyone in a failing economy, COVID-19 cases climbed. Then on Tuesday, Aug. 4, an explosion shook the city, causing death and destruction, wounding many in our community. Windows and doors were blown out of the JMP Lebanon office, but fortunately, staff were not present. Overall, the emotional toll is high.

Thanks to our donors, relief came quickly when the crisis threatened health and home. JMP is connecting people with lifesaving medication and diagnostics. With 300,000 displaced from their homes, JMP helps finance renovations to keep families together safely. Our outstanding JMP-Lebanon team, led by Pauline Sagherian, is known for compassionate care and strong agency partnerships that get the hard work done in such a time as this. We are reaching out where the need is, coordinating access to care and counseling people experiencing trauma.

Because of donors like you, we have made a difference and our community in Beirut knows they are not forgotten — but there is still so much more to be done. Please help families stay on their feet and help cover medical care and housing renovations. Every gift matters.

Please contact me to learn more about helping our brothers and sisters and share a word of encouragement that I can pass on. Your support makes all the difference.

A program helping children with cancer began out of love

A new JMP program brings respite to children like Arthur. Our volunteers describe Arthur as "bright and curious." He keeps them on their toes when it comes to challenging him. Arthur hopes to become a medical professional one day so that he can find a cure and better treatment for leukemia — the disease he suffers from himself.
