If you missed our last email, there are more details below. This election will shape the moral character of our country for years to come. I hope you'll join us.

In Faith,

Rev. Fletcher Harper

This November, be a moral observer. Join our call on Sept 23rd at 2pm ET.

Today is Rosh Hashanah, the beginning of the Jewish High Holidays, when Jews look to the Almighty to grant a year of peace, prosperity and blessing.

It has also been quite a week. Fires are burning in California. Floods are devastating the Southeast. And, we are 44 days away from the US election.

To ensure that the years to come are peaceful, prosperous, and blessed, we need to create a spirit of compassion in this election cycle. At GreenFaith we want to make sure that everyone has equal, safe, and robust access to the polls in the upcoming election.

That’s why we’re organizing a select number of clergy and faith leaders as Moral Observers for the coming weeks. Moral Observers will observe the process of voting in their communities, on election day and during the election cycle, to make sure there is equal and fair access to voting. They’ll document any hurdles, challenges or voting impediments they observe. We hope you’ll join our Moral Observer call next Wednesday to get involved.

As a community of faith committed to building a just world, we desire an election void of suppression and intimidation. We know that the barriers to voting are widespread - particularly among communities with high numbers of young voters, people of color, and lower socio-economic status. With the added challenges of climate disasters and COVID-19, it’s going to be harder than ever to cast a vote. That’s why Moral Observers are so important.

When: Wednesday, Sept 23 at 2pm ET (11am PT/12pm MT/1pm CT)
Where: On zoom here.

As people of faith, it’s our job to make sure that the right to vote is upheld and revered, as it should be. This Wednesday, we’ll teach you how you can do that as a GreenFaith Moral Observer. Sign up here.

If there was ever a time to put our faith into action, the time is now. Hope to see you on the call on Wednesday.

In faith,

Rev. Fletcher Harper

P.S. We’re in the final stretch of accepting applications for our GreenFaith Fellowship program, a 10 month multi-faith program that brings together people of faith from around the world to learn about eco-theology and building local religious environmental leadership. Find out more and apply here - we’ve extended the deadline for just ten more days - till September 28.
*You do not need to be an “official” faith leader to be a Moral Observer. Anybody is welcome to join this effort.
