Presbyterians Protecting Life - Is it time for harvest? #pray4reapers

Life Support Prayer Calendar
Dear Prayer Team Member,

Sundays after church when I was growing up, we packed 10 (or more) people in the station wagon, ready to get home to mom's roast beef dinner and apple pie! By then we were feeling uncomfortable in our Sunday best and ready to get back into our jeans. But, my dad, the farmer seemed to choose the hottest Sunday afternoons to take the back roads and survey his fields to see whether the crops were ready to harvest. We rolled up the windows and suffered in the hot car (before the days of air conditioning) while dad drove 10-15 miles per hour down the bumpy dusty road. Sometimes he would get out of the car and walk a few feet into the field to feel the grain heads and test for moisture content leaving us to fret over our discomfort or whether the roast beef would be burned. Dad's burning question was, "Are the fields ready for harvest?"
John 4:35-42 (NRSV)

"Do you not say, 'Four months more, then comes the harvest'? But I tell you, look around you, and see how the fields are ripe for harvesting. The reaper is already receiving wages and is gathering fruit for eternal life, so that sower and reaper may rejoice together. For here the saying holds true, 'One sows and another reaps.' I sent you to reap that for which you did not labor. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor."
Many Samaritans from that city believed in him because of the woman's testimony, "He told me everything I have ever done." So when the Samaritans came to him, they asked him to stay with them; "It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is truly the Savior of the world."

1. Give thanks to God for the work he is always doing to bring souls to harvest, to bring life to human hearts, and to preserve, protect, and nurture human life at every stage of development.
2. Pray for God to call champions of human life to the mission of PPL and raise up leaders in every Presbyterian and Reformed congregation to work with PPL who know the Savior and are bold in giving witness to Jesus the Light, Bread, Water, and Life.
