Presbyterian Peace Fellowship: Join us for Virtual Coffee Hour this Friday

The Cove Community: New Ways to Engage with the Presbyterian Peace ...
PPF Weekend Digest

This week marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, amidst a global pandemic. Did you spend a little time taking in the historic "Blue Marble" / Earthrise photo? It's included below. How deeply painful and also profound, this global experience that we are sharing. The losses, the failures, the essential and wildly hard work, the at-home solitude or chaos, the hope -- all on that little blue marble hurtling through space.

This Friday, we invite you to join us in a virtual corner of the earth for a Virtual Coffee Hour to connect and also discuss our engagement with PC(USA) General Assembly, which will be happening entirely online. REGISTER HERE to join our Virtual Coffee Hour - Friday 4/24 at 1:30pm EST via Zoom.

We released a statement last week about how we're approaching this General Assembly. Like everyone, we don't yet know precisely how we will engage (join the Coffee Hour to help us begin to figure that out!) but we do know that the “critical” work of the Church is social justice, to which we remain committed. See below for other upcoming opportunities to plug in with PPF.

PPF and the movement to Free Them All for Public Health
As immigrant detention centers and prisons become some of the worst Covid-19 hotspots around the country, many local and national organizations are uniting around a call to FREE THEM ALL - meaning, release people from the crowded conditions of these facilities, which are exceptionally dangerous for people who are detained, imprisoned, and working in them.

If you have been involved with FREE THEM ALL efforts in your community and/or are interested in thinking about how PPF could engage with this movement, contact Katie - katie@presbypeacefellowship.org, or just reply to this email.
