U.S. President Donald Trump continues to tout the anti-malarial medicine hydroxychloroquine as a COVID-19 treatment, despite the reservations of medical experts on his own task force, who say the drug needs more scientific testing for efficacy and safety.
Trump’s unrepentant boosterism on behalf of hydroxychloroquine has given rise to speculation that it may have more to do with his investment portfolio than his interest in the well-being of Americans. Might the president stand to profit from widespread use of the drug?
