Presbyterians Protecting Life: #ProtectLife and #Worship in spirit and in truth

Life Support Prayer Calendar
Staying home is getting old! Are you feeling restless especially as Spring weather tempts us to get out and go? Me too! But, God knows our deeper hunger and restlessness. He has provided his Spirit to help us worship and to prompt our prayers. He gently nudges us toward an authentic relationship with Jesus and helps us know how to pray. In these times when it feels as though all forward motion has stopped and we watch resources dwindle, we need more than ever to ask with faith that does not doubt for the requests that we know align with what God wants to do--protect human life, heal, and replace our culture of death with abundant life! Let's persevere in prayer.
John 4:16-26 (ESV)
Jesus said to her, "Go, call your husband, and come here."
The woman answered him, "I have no husband."
Jesus said to her, "You are right in saying, 'I have no husband'; for you have had five husbands, and the one you now have is not your husband. What you have said is true."
The woman said to him, "Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship."
Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But the hour is coming, and is now here, when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth."
The woman said to him, "I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). When he comes, he will tell us all things."
Jesus said to her, "I who speak to you am he."
April 19-25, 2020

1. Pray for God's Holy Spirit to move on Presbyterian congregations, so that our worship may indeed be "in spirit and in truth."

2. Pray that the blindness of our hearts that prevents us from seeing Jesus as he is, would fall away. Ask God to help us understand the contrast between our own spiritual poverty and God's amazing love.

3. Pray for PPL to be compelled by the Gospel to tell the world of God's great love for humankind. Ask God to empower us to act out of that knowledge and champion human life with all the strength and all the resources that God provides.
