Upcoming Events & A Thanksgiving Reminder

Decolonizing Thanksgiving
The painful Thanksgiving myth wraps Native American history in with our season of gratitude. While there are many causes for thanksgiving, this week's holiday is complex.

In June 2020, we hosted Presbyterian Peace Camp, a virtual week of learning, prayer, and action. One of the conversations we hosted was this one with panelists Anthony Trujillo, Fern Cloud, Irvin Porter, and Hollie Haile Thompson. They discussed what it means to support Native American sovereignty and decolonizing the Church. We re-share it now during this holiday season as a reminder to continue to commit ourselves to this work all year.
Keep Awake This Sunday, Nov 29
FOSNA (Friends of Sabeel North American) is inviting Christian leaders across the U.S. to commit their congregations to "Preach Palestine" on November 29 by incorporating Palestine into their worship service. This date is the first Sunday in Advent, the Sunday after Thanksgiving, and International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

FOSNA has gathered resources for worship planners from a diversity of traditions and voices that lift liberation from Turtle Island to Palestine. Can you invite your congregation to be a part of their goal of 100 churches to "Preach Palestine" on November 29?

You can review their materials and commit your congregation to preach Palestine at fosna.org/KeepAwake.

Advent and Apocalypse: Beginnings and Endings
Join PPF in the kick-off of our Advent season in a Coffee Hour Bible Study on December 4. "Advent and Apocalypse: Beginnings and Endings" will be hosted by theologian, liturgist, preacher, and artist Cláudio Carvalhaes, an ordained pastor in the PC(USA).

He taught at McCormick Theological Seminary, Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, and Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
