The murder of Vanessa Guillen

Content warning: The following includes details about violence.

Vanessa Guillén was killed at Fort Hood in April. Her murder shocked the world and revealed a culture of violence at Fort Hood. Vanessa was being sexually harassed by a sergeant. Her death sparked calls for a change in the way the U.S. military handles complaints of sexual assault and harassment. The “I am Vanessa Guillén” law would do just that. Jenny started this petition to demand that the President support passing this law. Add your name to Jenny’s petition.

The "I am Vanessa Guillen Bill’ would allow for current active serving military personal to report sexual harassment to third party agencies instead of their commanding officer, or their superiors.

Vanessa Guillen and many other females and male members of the military have reported sexual harassment to their commanders, with no action having been taken. Often times their superiors are the ones who harass those under them.

Unfortunately, Vanessa Guillen is one of 24 other soldiers from Fort Hood that have been found dead around the area.
