Today, GreenFaith joined with partners in Charlotte, San Francisco and New York to call on Bank of America, Wells Fargo and Citi to phase out financing of all new fossil fuel exploration and development projects. These banks will be voting on shareholder resolutions on this topic tomorrow at their annual meetings. In Charlotte, GreenFaith grassroots leaders have blocked entrances and staged a die-in at the Bank of America Headquarters. “We are here together to save the earth and highlight the greed that is harming the planet," says Holli Adams, a leader of the GreenFaith Charlotte Circle. In San Francisco, GreenFaith Global Organizing Directors Meryne Warah and Sara Shor participated in an action that involved blocking every entrance to the Wells Fargo Headquarters: Take action today to keep up the pressure and amplify these courageous public actions: Call and email the CEOs of Bank of America, Wells Fargo and Citi - share your personal voice and story as a person of faith and let them know they have a moral obligation to vote YES on these shareholder resolutions to phase out fossil fuels. You can also amplify our impact by sharing the coverage of these actions on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram — and by forwarding this email to others in your community network. Each and every religious and spiritual tradition teaches that it is wrong to harm the planet. If it is wrong to destroy the planet, and it is wrong to profit from that destruction. Let’s put our faith into action today to call on Bank of America, Wells Fargo and Citi to do what is morally right and stop funding climate chaos! Together, in faith and determination, The GreenFaith US Organizing Team - Rev. Amy Brooks-Paradise, Aly Tharp, Rev. Chelsea MacMillan, Oluwatosin Kolawole, William Morris |
