Presbyterian Peace Fellowship - 🚨 The time is now for action.

March For Our Lives

Before we can even pull together details for action to send to you, there has been yet another mass shooting at a local hospital. The time is now for action.

Along with the national Guns to Gardens day on June 11, Americans will be taking to the streets in Washington DC and in over 300 local marches to demand action from our legislators.

We will gather roughly an hour before the national march at Western Presbyterian Church, 2401 Virginia Ave NW at G St NW. Metro to Foggy Bottom Station. They will begin the day by hosting a prayerful gathering before stepping off from the church to join the national march. RSVP here to join the march in DC.

If you aren't able to make it to DC -- Find a March Near You.

On June 11 share your participation with #PresbysMarchForOurLives
National Guns to Gardens Day
Also happening on June 11: our partners across the nation, including many local congregations, will be hosting a national Guns to Gardens Day.

Do you have a gun to dismantle? Want to observe and support?

We believe that churches are essential to help dismantle the gun lobby myth that more guns will keep us safe.

Congregations can provide spaces for a responsible way to dispose of unwanted guns, for ritual and healing and for inspiring our communities and elected officials to take more action. We can boldly imagine and practice a world with less guns everywhere and with deep community care, even as we push our elected officials to do their part to save lives.

This may feel like a heavy lift for some of you, especially if you or your congregation are new to the issue of gun violence. That's why we have organized our Guns to Gardens Action Circles. Photo, Guns to Gardens at Community United Church of Christ, Boulder, CO

Our PPF team will walk you through the steps to host your first Guns to Gardens event, including how to invite your congregation into this ministry, how to properly dismantle a gun, how to promote your event, and how to offer pastoral care to those who bring guns to be dismantled. Join with others across the church and join the Guns to Gardens movement.
