Presbyterian Peace Fellowship - Breakfast for dinner

Join us for the virtual Peace Breakfast

One of my favorite moments from many previous PPF Peace Breakfasts came after the event as the hotel ballroom formally ended. More than once I either overheard or engaged brief conversations with banquet room staff who were moved by the words of a speaker. I’ve often thought that if your words matter to the hotel hospitality staff, then your words matter.

This year I will miss those brief conversations, but the words shared this Sunday evening will matter regardless of who is setting or clearing your table. They will matter because they will address issues of concern to all of us: climate change, gun violence, and voting rights.
This year, Svitlana Romanko, climate activist and attorney will be our guest speaker. As communities continue to experience drought, extreme heat and climate chaos this summer, we know it is vital that our church take meaningful action now. We are praying for the commissioners of the 225th General Assembly as they discern the next steps regarding the many overtures regarding divestment that are before them.

We will also celebrate our Peaceseeker Award recipients: Bart Smith (2022) and Miranda Viscoli and Harry Eberts (2021). Bart was involved in powerful action this year to defend voting rights and Miranda and Harry have been leading the way with the Guns to Gardens movement!
We are sad we cannot share a meal with you in person this year, but we are grateful to be able to connect with so many Presbyterians dedicated to peace issues in this way. We are really looking forward to an evening of trivia, prayer, celebration and community. Please plan to join us this weekend, and then take what you hear into your corner of the world and share it around every table where you pull up a chair.

Grace and Peace,

David Ensign
Interim Executive Director
