From Ebola to Covid-19 to earthquakes and humanitarian crises, Dr. Lance Plyler’s travels have taken him to countless disaster-response sites worldwide, including Haiti in the wake of the 2010 earthquake, the Philippines following the 2013 typhoon and Nepal after a 2015 earthquake. He has also spent significant time serving war-torn populations in locales such as South Sudan and Mosul, Iraq. More recently his travel took him to Samaritan’s Purse Respiratory Care Unit in NYC to assist patients stricken during the Covid-19 pandemic. Dr. Plyler will share his thoughts about how the changing landscape of medical ministry affects the training of medical professionals wanting to serve in lower-resourced countries and give us an inside look at Samaritan’s Purse.
