Brooke County Schools Music programs as a whole are suffering right now. Budget cuts are being made, and elementary students are going to get way less musical exposure. The middle school is losing beginner band and chorus experiences. Please sign this petition, so the county has the chance to rethink their decision! detailed information of cuts: "-one art position at the Primary eliminated -one music position at the Primary eliminated, with these 2 positions eliminated, that would mean one music teacher and one art teacher for all 4 schools (meaning less music and art time in primary/intermediate). -one music position at the Middle School eliminated -band program/instructor absorbing the general music program (there’s been no mention of what will happen to the choir. It’s almost impossible for the band instructor to do everything). -band program will have only one period of instruction. Grades 6-8 -no period available for beginning band program (5th grade) -High School Choir director RIF (reduction in force) Another teacher transferring into the position."
