You are invited to our next Climate Grief Circle on Tuesday, June 3, at 5pm PT / 6pm MT / 7pm CT / 8pm ET.
Climate grief circles are about so much more than climate grief.
Of course, in these sessions, many participants express grief over the loss of animal and plant life due to climate and ecological devastation as well as the loss of human life. We process the destruction of homes and livelihoods in the aftermath of extreme weather events.
But one thing that gets lifted up over and over again – something that has nothing to do with the earth directly – is distress at the role that our fellow humans (including ourselves) have played, and continue to play, in creating and perpetuating the climate crisis.
Grappling with the folly of humanity is no small endeavor. It goes to the very core of our being. It affects the way we view and trust each other -- or not.
It brings up questions about the existence of good and evil in the world, and whether or not humans have anything positive to offer to this beautiful planet of ours.
I can’t pretend to have the answers to these questions, nor can I promise they’ll be answered in our climate grief circles, but what I can tell you is this: every single climate grief circle has ended with participants reporting that they feel lighter, less depressed about the state of the world – and most importantly – less alone knowing that there are others working for a better future.
And, especially as we gear up for our Faiths 4 Climate Justice: Sun Day mobilization in September, it is more crucial than ever that we come together to root in the gifts of our faiths for the sake of the planet.
Will you join us this Tuesday? RSVP here.
In faith + action,
Rev. Chelsea MacMillan
