The Office of Public Witness and the Presbyterian Ministry at the United Nations will welcome dozens of young adults to an advocacy conference on Oct. 20-22 at the Presbyterian Center in Louisville. The Rev. Jimmie Hawkins, who leads the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) advocacy offices, recently traveled to several spots in Kentucky to recruit participants for the Young Adult Advocacy Conference. The event, also known as the Jesus & Justice Advocacy Conference, will provide young people with the tools and expertise to stand up for things they believe in. The trip to promote the conference is one of the ways Compassion, Peace & Justice ministries have been active in recent weeks. Others include holding a worship service led by the 2023 International Peacemakers; hosting an Educate a Child webinar on protecting public education; attending the United Nations General Assembly; publishing Mosaic, the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance annual report; and welcoming committees of the Presbyterian Hunger Program and the Presbyterian Committee on the Self-Development of People.
